I still keep forgetting that I have a BBQ joint at the Union 76 station across the street from me. Literally, right there in the same tiny building as Union 76--like you could get your sandwich and sprint to a squeegee in less than four seconds. That's not news to some of you. But the *new* news is that they're now open until *6:30p*! And they have "after 3 p.m." specials! Mmmmm... 3 p.m. Sean and I ate there today, pork and beef brisket respectively. It was very messy and good. I got a "Carolina Trailboss," which means they put a dollop of coleslaw on top o' the traditional Trailboss sandwich. Another innovation of the new improved Rhodies: You can get a sausage on any sandwich, which they call "nailing it." Another favorite BBQ place calls this "spiking it." I can't wait for more variations, like, for example, "totally fucking it right in the sandwich with a sausage."
We went to eat at Fisher Plaza and watched this seemingly really stupid dog having an amazingly good time:
