I think this pretty much sums it up.
We're back now from the annual beery, sunny Beckler River run, and--as scheduled--the combination of sleeping in the dirt and drinking can after can of cheap beer unlocked the monkey brain. The monkey brain laughed, threw rocks, set things on fire (including, unintentionally, a loaf of garlic bread), floated on some water, and then cooked a shockingly good salmon-sparerib-veggie-hobo meal over the fire before disappearing back into the cerebral dark from whence it came.
On the way home, Heidi and I stopped by the King County Fairgrounds in Monroe to check out the swap meet. Heidi picked up some great Good Houskeeping cookbooks as a cat-watching thank-you for Jill, and some nice lady gave me some old '50s mags for free, including the Hit Parader:
