Peggy Noonan on Sarah Palin

In a harsh piece in the WSJ titled "A Farewell to Harms." She calls Palin—among other things—a "ponder-free zone." I knew Noonan had a brain in her head, ever since she got caught on that hot mike back in the campaign.

In other GOP news, now only 6% of scientists call themselves Republican.

  • Some Playmobil toys for Silas, from the spoooky ghost pirate (or Geisterpiraten) set. I have to admit: I'm more than a little satisfied that he has learned the word "hydra."

  • A fat Shelton's turkey for Christmas. Finally: turkey leftovers will be mine.

  • A Lightner-Brown-recipe hot toddy. I used a generous shot of Maker's, half a lemon, and a dollop of raw wild huckleberry honey, topped with boiling water. Mmmm, mmm, mm.

  • A unicorn D&D mini (thanks, Rob!) for Silas' show-and-tell day at school. (They had to bring something that started with the letter u.) One of the teachers said that he carried it around the class and the kids each took turns touching the unicorn's horn and saying, "ow!"
