Obama's favorability and unfavorability in the South

Let the record show that this is utterly nutbar: 

"Obama's favorability-unfavorability rating in the South is 28-67, while it is 68-23 in the rest of the country." 

I'm sure—utterly, completely positive—that race has nothing to do with it. Nothing. How could it? Doesn't make sense. Nope, not race. Nuh-uh. Racism couldn't possibly be a factor. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Recent Arrivals at my house


  • Some Playmobil toys for Silas, from the spoooky ghost pirate (or Geisterpiraten) set. I have to admit: I'm more than a little satisfied that he has learned the word "hydra."

  • A Lightner-Brown-recipe hot toddy. I used a generous shot of Maker's, half a lemon, and a dollop of raw wild huckleberry honey, topped with boiling water. Mmmm, mmm, mm.

  • A unicorn D&D mini (thanks, Rob!) for Silas' show-and-tell day at school. (They had to bring something that started with the letter u.) One of the teachers said that he carried it around the class and the kids each took turns touching the unicorn's horn and saying, "ow!"
