A few observations. E.g.:

9. People gathering in the streets feeling wronged tend to be loud, as it is difficult to make oneself heard on the other side of an impressive edifice.
10. It is not always the job of people shouting outside impressive buildings to solve problems. It is often the job of the people inside, who have paper, pens, desks, and an impressive view.
11. Historically, a story about people inside impressive buildings ignoring or even taunting people standing outside shouting at them turns out to be a story with an unhappy ending.

Off to Michigan...

We're leaving tomorrow morning for Michigan, to visit my mom for a week. I've never been there for long (except for going to Cranbrook, when Jules graduated from grad school), so I'm looking forward to it—seeing as this is apparently one of Michigan's tiny seasonal windows of niceness.

We'll be in Mount Pleasant mostly, but with a day in Detroit and a few days in the most beautiful place in America. My mom just sent this lovely picture of their property in Mount Pleasant: 

Guns of War

Silas had made up this game a couple days ago involving some of his Legos and two plastic swords and some action figures, and called it "Guns of War." I was assuming he had just misheard me, when I had talked about "Gears of War," but then this morning he showed me a new game, with Iron Man's car and a Swampfire Ben 10 figure, called "Cars of War." ("It's a game about war," he says.) It's a whole franchise!
